Shanita Maxie, 43, enters her son Aaron’s room to wake him up before praying and getting ready for school. Aaron Maxie, 7, is in third grade, and prays with his mom Shanita each morning.
Shanita Maxie, 43, with her son Aaron Maxie, 7, while Shanita assists him in getting ready for school. Each morning Shanita prays with Aaron after he opens his eyes. “I start my boys day with the joy of the Lord to give him strength. My boy is the strongest I know.” Maxie says.

Each morning as she arrives to work, Shanita Maxie wipes down her desk space to “close” it before she begins working. “It’s like all the negative or worries from yesterday can be replaced with a clean slate.”

Shanita Maxie, 43, gets emotional when embracing Amanda Pritow at Real Life Church. Shanita was visit the church to see her, and sated for the worship service. “I’m so glad to see an old friend, especially in the place of who brought us together.” Maxie says.
