Chaos Coordinator
Between raising four children, teaching second grade, and fostering a wheelchair-bound dog, Amber Napier navigates the beautiful chaos of a life built around care.
Amber Napier hugs Dexter, a foster dog with mobility challenges, in her backyard as he eagerly nuzzles into her shoulder. What began as a short-term commitment quickly became something more. “It was supposed to be just a few weeks… temporary foster placement,” Napier said. “But something about Dexter… I just couldn’t scroll past.”
Napier leans in to help her son Easton line up a shot while her husband Alex looks on, a quiet moment of connection carved out amid the constant motion of their day.
Napier steadies her daughter after recess at their shared school's playground, meeting her frustration with calm and care as the child vents about a hurtful interaction with a classmate. A second-grade teacher and mother of four, Napier balances discipline and empathy in small, everyday moments. “I know that hurt your feelings,” she tells her, “but we can choose kindness anyway.”
Napier and her four children guide Dexter through a backyard obstacle course designed for his physical therapy, using cones and low bars to stimulate feeling in his hind legs and build strength and coordination. “Everyone pitches in to help with his therapy… so many hands on board fighting every single day to help him walk,” Napier said.
Napier leads a classroom discussion with her second-grade students, using Dexter’s story to teach empathy and understanding toward those who may be different. By connecting real-life experiences to her lessons, she encourages students to recognize strength in challenges and the value of helping others.
Napier pauses at home with Curry, a rescued foster dog, in a quiet moment amid the constant demands of raising four children and teaching second grade.
Napier guides students through First Communion practice at St. Martha Catholic School, helping them rehearse prayers and movements as they prepare for the sacrament.
Napier walks alongside Dexter as he moves forward in his custom wheelchair, a quiet moment reflecting the daily progress, patience, and hope that define their journey together.
