Kistler has been acting since six years old, with his first play being while he was in kindergarten. "Acting is all about self discovery," Kistler said. "You discover things about other people in studying them and learning how to reproduce an emotion, a gesture, a character on stage, but in so doing, you also have to find parts of yourself that are mirroring the character you're playing; so that you can be honestly playing it and not just pasting it on."
