Ann Benning Jones, a full-time college student, is on a mission to defy the odds. Recently undergoing surgery for endometriosis, Ann Benning's unwavering spirit and commitment to her dreams have propelled her forward as she prepares to grace the stage of the Miss Kentucky USA Pageant. Her story is not just about chasing a crown but about overcoming obstacles while staying faithful and
courageous.
WHy Miss Kentucky USA?

Ann Benning has always dreamed of having a platform to serve others in her community and Miss Kentucky USA is an opportunity for her dream. “Preparing for Miss Kentucky has been a lifelong dream rooted in my passion to serve and empower others. From a young age, I've harbored a deep desire to make a positive impact on people's lives and to advocate for self-love and authenticity. This dream is not just about winning a title; it's about using the platform to inspire and uplift other women,” shares Jones.

Ann Benning spends time preparing for the competition by meal prepping, working out, and taking care of her mental and physical health. When asked about her biggest challenges in this process Ann Benning shares, “Preparing for competitions like Miss Kentucky can be incredibly demanding, and I've faced my share of challenges along the way. One significant hurdle I have faced is being diagnosed with endometriosis and I had abdominal surgery, leaving me two months to heal and prepare for the competition,” says Jones. Endometriosis affects millions of women worldwide and can significantly impact their quality of life. Endometriosis causes intense pain and can affect a woman's reproductive future. Ann Benning underwent surgery on March 18th, 2024 to remove the tissue in her abdomen, leaving her less than two months to prepare for Miss Kentucky USA.

Throughout Ann Benning's life, her faith has been the foundation of every obstacle to keep her grounded. She relies deeply on her faith throughout the preparation for Miss Kentucky USA, “My faith has played a profound role in preparing me for Miss Kentucky, providing me with a sense of peace and guidance throughout this journey,” states Jones. During her preparation, Ann Benning faced her endometriosis diagnosis and surgery all while balancing being a full-time college student. “Whenever doubts or challenges arise, I turn to prayer and rely on my faith in God for strength and clarity,” describes Jones.
Committing to an hour of daily practice, six days a week, Ann Benning’s preparation for Miss Kentucky USA shows her determination and resilience. “I dedicate time every day to work on my physical strength and stamina in the gym so that I am strong and present myself confidently on stage,” states Jones. Ann Benning exemplifies a spirit of relentless commitment, self-improvement, and readiness to conquer any challenge that comes her way.

Ann Benning takes a 5-mile walk every day in order to incorporate cardio into her daily routine. While walking, she calls her parents to catch up with them. She relies on her parents for support during not only Miss Kentucky USA preparation, but also daily life advice. “My biggest supporters throughout this journey towards Miss Kentucky have undeniably been my parents. They have always been there, uplifting me to be the best version of myself and encouraging me to pursue my dreams with determination and grace,” says Jones.
Several times a week Ann Benning practices her pageant walk in her evening gown for her sorority sisters, "I am so lucky to live with 15 of my sorority sisters. It has helped me build confidence getting able to practice my stage presence in front of girls who support me," states Jones. Ann Benning is a proud member of Alpha Omicron Pi at Western Kentucky University.
Ann Benning shares her aspirations for her future no matter the outcome of Miss Kentucky. “If I don't win Miss Kentucky, I will embrace the experience as part of my journey and use it as motivation to continue growing and striving for my goals. After the competition, I plan to take some time to reflect and recharge. This downtime will also allow me to evaluate my performance, identify areas for improvement, and set new goals for the future,” shares Jones. Despite the uncertainties ahead, Ann Benning remains steadfast in her determination to pursue her dreams, demonstrating resilience and a commitment to personal growth.
